We were really pleased when one of our own patients, Matt, agreed to talk to us about his story – and why he thinks everyone should be getting tested and knowing their status.
Matt was diagnosed with HIV in 2009, and at the time had a really low CD4 count – meaning his HIV could have turned into AIDS had he not got tested when he did. There’s no reason with today’s HIV medicines for those living with the virus ever to develop AIDS – but getting tested is the first step to staying well.
